Registration Information

We are currently accepting applications for the 2020-21 school year. Children born in 2016 and 2017 are eligible to register for classes with a September 2020 start date.

In order to apply, please submit:

  1. A completed pre-registration form 
  2. A cheque for the $70 non-refundable pre-registration fee* made out to BFLP (please include your child’s name and desired class on the memo line)

Class space is limited, and students are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. After receiving your pre-registration form and fee, you can expect an email from the registrar within 10 business days confirming that you have been added to the waitlist.

In order to finish the process of registering your child, you must submit a complete
registration package, including:

  • Proof of child’s birth date (copy of birth certificate or care card)
  • 4 wallet-sized (2.5”x3.5”) recent photos of child
  • One-month tuition deposit
  • Society membership fee (if pre-registration fee has not been submitted) 
  • Post-dated cheques for tuition, fundraising deposits, parent participation guarantees, and general meeting guarantees (more details about tuition and deposits will be included in the registration package)

The registrar will confirm spaces as soon as possible. Your child is not officially enrolled
until all the above items have been submitted AND you have received written
confirmation from the Registrar.

Typical Timeline

January – priority enrolment for current students and their siblings
February/March – acceptance of pre-registered students in order of fee payment date
April – registration packages mailed to all accepted students
May – enrolments processed and confirmed

Registration Tips

  • Check your junk/spam folder regularly and add to your contact list to ensure that you receive email updates.
  • Completing the registration package requires submission of 19 post-dated cheques. Please ensure that you have enough available to fill out, as it can often take 4-6 weeks to order new ones.
  • Set reminders to ensure enough funds are in your bank account for all cheque deposit dates. Bounced cheques incur extra fees, and in some cases may delay the enrolment process.
  • Feel free to follow up with the registrar if you have questions, concerns, or just want to be kept in the loop. Board members are all volunteers and change every year, so it is always possible we missed something and could use a friendly reminder.

Withdrawal Policy

If you wish to withdraw your child from the program, we require a one-month notice of withdrawal in writing, to be submitted on or before the 1st of the month. In lieu of proper withdrawal notice, one month’s tuition fee will be withheld.

Please note that we are unable to refund tuition for withdrawals after February 1st.

NSF Policy (Non Sufficient Funds)

The Burnaby French Language Preschool has a policy that all NSF cheques need to be addressed by the board of executives. Each time there is an NSF cheque there will be a $35.00 charge. After the third incidence of NSF charges you will be asked by the board of executives to withdraw from the preschool.

* Pre-registration fee will be applied to the cost of society membership for students who are later enrolled. 

** Preferred method of contact over the summer months (July & August) is via email as the phone's voicemail is checked infrequently.

Society Membership and Enrolment

Enrolment at BFLP is contingent upon membership of the Burnaby French Language Preschool Society. Only currently enrolled families are members of the preschool. Families who withdraw their child's enrolment from the school are no longer members. Following withdrawal, your child will be removed from all current and future enrolment lists. Families who choose to attend in the future may reapply and will be added to the waitlist in order of their pre-registration fee payment date.
